Uptown

Perfect for
Living in Uptown
Uptown is the spot everyone seems to talk about when they picture living in Dallas. It’s home to some of the city’s most recognizable little pockets — West Village, Oak Lawn, State Thomas, and Turtle Creek — and it’s got that mix of social energy, walkability, and convenience that everyone tends to crave. It’s perfectly centered in the middle of the city, so you have easy access to all of the major highways and tollways for commuting.
It’s a go-to for anyone with an active lifestyle. You’ve got gyms and fitness studios on every block, tennis and pickleball courts nearby, and of course, The Katy Trail — the 3.5-mile walk, run, and bike spot that connects Uptown to Victory Park, Knox-Henderson, and Highland Park. Living right on the trail is a flex, and the rent usually reflects it.
One of the best parts about Uptown is that you can actually get around without always hopping in your car (when it’s not 105 degrees outside). But our severely underrated recommendation of transportation is the M-Line Trolley, a streetcar that drives from West Village all the way through Victory Park and Klyde Warren Park (and it’s free!).
As far as food goes, the classics still hit. We’re talking Las Palmas, Shug’s, Eatzi’s, and Katy Trail Ice House. A true tale of sometimes the crowd favorites really do live up to the hype.
Noise is still a thing in the busier parts of Uptown, and with the city constantly growing, construction is pretty much everywhere. Don’t be surprised if your skyline view gets traded for a new five-star hotel, or if you’re rerouting your daily work commute thanks to yet another street project. And for all of our unseasoned Dallas drivers, watch out for the one-way street signs!
