Living in Design District

You might’ve driven around Dallas to find a hidden gem and wondered why you passed several showrooms and art galleries… don’t worry you’re not lost. You actually landed in one of Dallas’s most slept-on neighborhoods, the Design District! The Design District gives you Downtown access with a little more breathing room and some of the best views of the ball and the west Dallas bridges if you’re a high-rise resident.

Think of the Design District as industrial-chic with a hint of the hustle and bustle of the city. To the untrained eye, this neighborhood might not have much to offer, but once you’re in this part of West Dallas, you’ll be surprised to stumble into some great places in the city. Nightlife is popping here from cocktail bars like Double D’s and Monkey Bar to jazz nights at Triumph’s and EDM at Silo. You won’t go home hungry if you’re anywhere in this neighborhood, and since you’re asking for our recommendations so kindly, we love Culinary Dropout, Pie Tap, and El Carlos Elegante. We’d also like to think that Drake is always rapping about the Carbone here in the Design District, even if he’s talking about the New York location. (one can dream)

The passion project of connecting Dallas to Dallas keeps this neighborhood in the loop – literally! The Loop is a 50-mile trail network that connects popular trails like The Trinity Trail in the Design District to the Katy Trail in Victory Park, making hot girl walks perfect here. And if you love a passion project, this is the place to be with The Seam, a soon-to-be hotspot with new restaurants, shops, and wellness spaces, opening in 2026.

You also have easy access to Dallas North Tollway and score a smoother commute to suburbs like Arlington and Irving from this side of the city. Walkability might not be its strongest suit, but the Design District makes up for it in vibes and up and coming developments on the horizon.
