Downtown
Perfect for
Living in Downtown
In the wise words of Alicia Keys, Downtown Dallas is the concrete jungle of the city. It might not be everyone’s first pick to live, but for the people who get it, they get it! It tends to resonate more with locals who know the lay of the land, rather than out-of-state renters expecting a super polished or entertainment-focused Downtown.
Downtown is packed with unique living options, from 30-story luxury high-rises to old city banks turned into eclectic lofts, all tucked into the maze of office towers and HQ’s. It’s one of the most walkable areas in Dallas, with restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and events often just steps outside of your door.
One of the biggest pro’s of living in Downtown is that you’re walkable to nearly everything you need, except for a grocery store. No need to fight for parking when you’re heading to Yoga at The Eye (hosted by The Joule Hotel), vintage shopping at the Melting Pot Market, or catching live music at The Nasher Sculpture Center. You’re also sandwiched between two of the city’s hotspots: Klyde Warren Park and the Dallas Farmers Market. Some of our favorite eats in the area include Sapa House, The Woolworth, and Starship Bagels (which kind of gives Shug’s a run for its money).
Pricing tends to be on the higher side, unless you’re looking for an older, historic build, but renters pay for the walkability, central location, and closeness to work. Not the quietest neighborhood, but that’s just about any Downtown area. Aside from parking being a downfall, if you’re looking for a city energy that exudes hustle and bustle, Downtown might just be your scene.
