Living in East | Lower Greenville
You might think Uptown has the social scene on lock, but if you’ve ever found yourself on Greenville Ave or down Haskell for a bite at E-Bar, then you know that East Dallas gives it a serious run for its money. East Dallas contains Lower Greenville and Old East Dallas, two different neighborhoods, both with their own character.
Old East Dallas gets its name from referring to the historic, eclectic homes that still reside in the area. Although not inherently as walkable as other neighborhoods, rent is reasonable and you’ll find your typical cookie cutter apartments here next to dive bars like Rode Cold and Cosmo’s or food spots like Alice, E-Bar, and Loro. Renters who want to live near the infamous Lower Greenville typically keep their search options open to Old East Dallas if they want more bang for their buck!
Just a few blocks over, Lower Greenville is a street of patios, nightlife, and sweet treat o’clock. Greenville Ave is good for any time of the day from grocery runs at Trader Joe’s, lunch and eclectic shopping at Tyler Kingston Mercantile, evening happy hour at HG Sply, and late night bar hopping into Old Crow. We love the 2024 Michelin Recommended restaurant Ngon but we couldn’t talk about Greenville Ave without mentioning GAPCo pizza. Apartments near LG are limited and the price reflects the demand for such a walkable, social location.
