Living in Highlands | LoHi

If you’re not familiar with the highly desirable and sought-after neighborhood in Denver, let us introduce you to LoHi, aka the Lower Highlands. Located just south of the Highlands, LoHi is known for its impeccable food scene, cocktail bars, and access to Lower Downtown Denver (LoDo), with many specifically noting the convenience of the running and biking trails along The Confluence. From high-end spots like Hey Kiddo, El Five, and Michelin-rated Alma Fonda Fina to more laid-back eateries like the new Teocalli Cocina, My Neighbor Felix, or Postino’s, the Highlands is a food explorer’s dream. Add sports bars like Occidental and Reccess Beer Garden, and you’re looking at the neighborhood that offers it all. We’d recommend this spot to any new-to-Denver transplants or current residents looking for an upscale lifestyle right outside their back door.

Due to high demand, rent prices here are definitely a pretty penny. You’ll likely spend more here than you would in other Denver neighborhoods. However, you’ll also find some of the nicest and most modern apartments in the metro. Additionally, as a northern-based neighborhood, you can get out of the city in just minutes, making it an ideal place for those who commute north to Boulder or Fort Collins. And with Sloan’s Lake just a quick drive away, you can quickly access green space and mountain views when nature calls. So, if LoHi and the Highlands sound like your dream spot, just expect to shell out a bit more on rent. But hey, if you’re saving on Ubers…. It must just all even out.
