Buda and Kyle are the fast-growing southern suburbs of Austin—in fact, the area has almost tripled in population since 2020. Like its northern counterparts Round Rock and Pflugerville, this area attracts homeowners looking for lower rates than Austin proper. There are apartments here, and many currently under construction, and they’ll have some of the lowest rents in the entire Austin metroplex. 

This area is perfect for anyone who has to commute to San Marcos, as it’s a great “middle ground” between the two major cities. I-35 is the main thoroughfare, which means traffic in and out of Buda/Kyle can be intense, especially during rush hour and the holidays. As with most suburbs, residents in this area have access to a variety of chain restaurants, large grocery stores, strip malls, and entertainment centers. However, most “true Austin” activities will require a drive into Austin.
