Living in Southeast Austin

Southeast Austin is a growing area of the city, encompassing everything east of I-35 and South of the river. This includes neighborhoods like Riverside, Montopolis, Easton Park, Onion Creek, and Bluff Springs. Currently, it’s booming via residential developments, but there are tons of apartment options, old and new. Riverside is the closest area to downtown where you can rent a more affordable apartment—kiss cheap rent goodbye the second you cross the river. You’re still super close to the Eastside and Zilker Park and Barton Springs Pool. Airport access is the quickest from here as well, making this the perfect spot for frequent flyers.

Don’t sleep on it’s nature either! Onion Creek Park and McKinney Falls State Park are in Southeast Austin, offering scenic swimming spots and off-leash dog trails. Driving even further east, you’ll get to the site of F1 and tons of concerts, Circuit of the Americas. While historically overlooked, this part of Austin has begun to gain attention for its affordable pricing, spacious floor plans, and proximity to outdoor gems. You won’t find nightlife here, but it’s a great area for renters who prioritize peace, space, and value.
