We’ve rounded up some fun options to get back into the swing of going out for a date night, all of which are socially distanced! Check out this go-to guide of 10 ways to have a date night out in DFW- from classic wine-sipping to thrilling escape rooms!
Hit a strike with bowling
Nothing like a little friendly competition to get a date night going! Trade your tennis shoes for bowling shoes and hit the lanes for some good old fashioned fun. Vintage style lanes can be found at Bowlounge with amazing bites and craft cocktails from the full bar, and a huge patio outside when you need some fresh air. Dallas weather is about to be in its prime, so this option doesn’t sound bad to us!
Try to escape the room
Put you and your date’s mind skills to the test by trying out an escape room! Escape The Room has 4 escape rooms in Dallas and 6 escape rooms in Fort Worth and offers a private escape room experience. You can even make it a double date! Choose your escape room’s theme like Western Bank Heist or Jurassic Escape, then use your brainpower (and each other’s) to escape the room in less than 1 hour! The aspect of it being timed makes it super fun and guarantees lots of laughs along the way as you try to make it out in time.
Break things at a destruction room
While we hope you wouldn’t feel any rage on your date night out, rage rooms are an exhilarating alternative to the traditional date night and a great way to work up an appetite for dinner afterward. Several of these destruction rooms in Dallas have closed but you can head to Smash N Bash located in Fort Worth to get your rage on! You’ll get suited up in full-body gear and gloves before picking out your weapon of choice and heading to get destructive. You can also bring your own breakables if they are not on the biohazard list given on their website.
Listen to live tunes at a music series
Live music can be the sugar on top of any romantic date night. Since COVID started, we’ve noticed a newfound surge of music series around DFW. One of the most notable that you can check out with your honey is the Lakeside Music Series located in The Sound at Cypress Waters. Sit back and relax on any of the restaurant patios while you dine lakeside and enjoy the live music from popular bands and artists. No need for food? There is socially distanced lawn seating to spread a blanket and get cozy, a 2-acre space of lawn furniture, and of course along the lake. Definitely one of the most picturesque and romantic options!
Take a swing at a round of golf
You don’t have to be a golf pro or know your perfect stance to have fun on a golf date- that’s what golf entertainment spots are for! For simple, putt-putt style mini golf, Another Round is a unique take on a classic date idea. For starters, the course is so quirky and fun but also a great spot to take a pic together since the whole course is fully instagrammable! They also have a bar with golf-themed cocktails and a yummy menu from Cooper’s Meat Market. If mini golf isn’t quite your style, take your golf skills to the next level at Top Golf!
Check out a museum
For a culture venture with your date, plan a trip to a local museum, and learn more about new topics together! The Dallas Museum of Art is one of the largest museums in America and has a fun, new, neon exhibit called For a Dreamer of Houses. For modern and contemporary works of art, you could wander the galleries of the Nasher Sculpture Center and the relaxing outdoor sculpture garden. If you’re keener on nature and science, the Perot Museum would be a fascinating place for a daytime date.
Kick back with a movie night
Have you seen the surge of socially distanced movie nights happening? There are plenty of places around Dallas getting involved including some of your favorite restaurants! Jasper’s is hosting a backyard cinema and Legacy Food Hall has been playing favorites on their 24ft LED screen just to name a few. Check out our previous movie spot roundup here for more information! In addition, there are always drive-in options like Coyote Drive-In and Cinepolis has recently reopened with new health safety procedures and $5 classic movies plus 2 free tickets when you spend $50+ on food/drinks!
Step into nature
Walk hand-in-hand among gorgeous blooms and botanical gardens at The Dallas Arboretum! With the temperatures getting cooler the time has never been better to step back into nature for a day. Not only that but with fall season creeping up on us (finally) Autumn at the Arboretum will soon be in full swing! From September 19 – November 1 the Arboretum will be decked out in multi-colored pumpkins and are perfect to snap a pic in front of.
Take a cooking class
Cooking together screams “date night!” For a hands-on, upscale cooking class that is beginner-friendly, book a slot at The Cookery! Learn how to make your own pasta by hand, roll your own sushi, experience food of other cultures, or check out the farm to table meal class! There are vegan classes too! Their team of instructors make you feel at ease and guide you through step by step.
Enjoy sips at a winery
For some, dates are a lot more fun with a glass of your new favorite wine! Though Dallas isn’t known for its vineyards, there are some great wineries where you can sample unique, high-quality wines together. Times Ten Cellars is a hip wine bar and winery that has been in the wine biz for 15 years. They have a tasting room, lounge, and patio all of which where you can sip their wines and soak in a romantic evening out while snacking on cheese boards, flatbreads, and desserts!
