Fun fact: Dallas is home to more than 600,000 cats and dogs! We knew when we moved here, that Dallas was a pet-friendly city, but that number is crazy given that our population in Dallas is about double that. So essentially, every other person in the city owns a pet! Dog owners are a special breed of pet parent. They love showing off pictures and bringing their companion on all kinds of outdoor adventures, but finding a place to live that allows dogs, isn’t as easy as finding a beer garden that does! So, if you’re new here or need some help deciding where to settle down and explore with your furry friend, we have the hook up on the most dog-friendly areas in the Dallas area!

Mutts

WEST VILLAGE

West Village takes the top spot for one main reason: Mutt’s Canine Cantina. Mutt’s is both a bar and a beautiful dog park, that has both a small dog and big dog park, so your dog is safe to play with others his or her own size! And you can grab a cold one and hang by the yellow picnic tables and socialize will you wait for your dog to release every ounce of energy. Or mix it up from Mutt’s and hang at the outdoor patio of Village Burger Bar or Mi Cocina.

Apartment recommendation: The One Oak Grove is right across the street from Mutt’s and comes with its own mini dog park area and a full dog wash room to take advantage of!

WHITE ROCK LAKE

Does your best friend need some natural beauty? East Dallas lovers rejoice! Nothing beats waking up early and taking long walks around the lake with your pup by your side! The 9 mile walking trail that wraps around White Rock is perfect for exercise, or you can drop by White Rock’s own White Rock Lake Dog Park that’s partially in the lake, so in the hot summers, your dog can actually cool off too! You can also take your dog to the expansive patio at Smoky Rose.

Apartment recommendation: The Look Outis a beautiful new apartment complex in Lake Highlands that’s on the edge of the Greenbelt. While the Look Out has its own bark park on site, you can catch the greenbelt and take it all the way to White Rock Lake Dog Park.

DOWNTOWN

Downtown Dallas has a bountiful selection of pup-friendly parks, and it’s only getting better! From Klyde Warren Park’s own mini dog park to the beautiful Main Street Gardens to Belo Park, you could change up your scenery every day! Or you can take your pal over to the Farmer’s Market and sit out on the patio of one of the several restaurants.

ApartmentRecommendation: Rumor has it 1900 Pacific has its own pet spa where you can both bathe and groom your dog!

Katy Trail Ice House

VICTORY PARK

Victory Park, itself is really walkable, and you can access many pet-friendly bars or restaurants including Saint Ann’s and The Grove at Harwood. Additionally, Victory Park is the ending point for the Katy Trail, so you can easily catch the trail and take your pup to Katy Trail Ice House or Reverchon Park or just enjoy the 3 mile walk down and back!

Apartment Recommendation: This goes toThe Katyapartments because the entrance to the Katy Trail is literally right across the street from the leasing office.
