Dallas Observer’s BrewFest is back on Saturday, September 7th at the Dallas Farmers Market and if beer makes you hoppy, you will not want to miss this! This year marks the 9th annual BrewFest, and the third year in a row that Smart City Locating is involved as a sponsor–look out for the official BrewFest x Smart City koozie! They will also be present at a booth talking apartments and giving away free swag; definitely stop by and say hi.

Be sure to come thirsty, for beer! You can sample over 500 local, international and craft beers. And we recommend bringing your own beer fest pretzel necklace to snack on. While there will be food for purchase, including corny dogs, pizza and tacos, you’ll probably want to spend your time (and calories) sampling beers!

Discounted Tickets:

Still need tickets for Brewfest? Purchase the “Beer Me Pack,” a 4-pack of General Admission tickets and save $40 (limited availability) OR use discount code “SMARTCITY19” to purchase single General Admission tickets for $35 each until September 1st!

By the way, Brewfest got us thinking about how Dallas is becoming a beer-lover’s paradise! Read on as we share  more beer-focused activities to do in Dallas.

Blow your own Pint Glass

Dallas Glass Art in the Design District is hosting “Hot Glass & Cold Beer classes” through the end of September! Choose between a stemless wine glass or beer glass, and then blow the glass yourself! When your glass is ready for pick-up, you’ll also receive a token for neighboring Pegasus City Brewery to redeem a cold beer in your new glass!

The class takes about 2 hours and is $80 per person. Sign up here!

Learn hands-on at a Beer and Cheese Pairing Class

The Mozzarella Company in Deep Ellum produces almost 200,000 pounds of cheese a year and each and every cheese is made by hand! You can learn hands-on how to make cheese like their cheesemakers at a Beer and Cheese Pairing Class on Thursday, October 3rd from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Go on a Brewery Tour

There’s no shortage of breweries popping up around Dallas, so take your pick of brewery tours! We recommend checking out Deep Ellum Brewing, Four Corners, Lakewood Brewing Company, Community Beer Company, Oak Highlands Brewery, Texas Ale Project, 3 Nations Brewing Co, Pegasus City Brewery, Manhattan Project Beer Co, Westlake Brewing, Steam Theory Brewing, BrainDead Brewing, White Rock Alehouse & Brewery, Celestial Beerworks, and Peticolas Brewing. That’s a ton of ground to cover and hopefully it helps keep your glass full for awhile!

Cruise the 6-Pack Trail

The 6-Pack Trail offers several tours on which you bike to craft breweries in Dallas (or in Fort Worth) and enjoy a 6-pack of 8 oz. tastings! The tours are offered 1-2 times each month, and include 6 stops and some grub. A tour is $55 per person. Book your tour of the 6-Pack Trail here! Note that you’ll need to bring your own bike or rent one through Local Hub Bicycle Company.

Mark your calendar for upcoming community events

Beyond Brewfest, there are several upcoming community events for beer lovers!

  • Brew at the Zoo is an annual, adults-only event taking place on Friday, September 13th! Sample beers and ciders from over 30 local and national breweries and enjoy animal encounters, games, and music by DJ Natural Hiiigh. All proceeds support the Dallas Zoo’s conservation efforts!
  • Oktoberfest is the ultimate holiday for drinking beer, and you can expect many events to celebrate, from September 21st to October 6th. We guarantee that you can find an event near you, with Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Addison, Mckinney, Lake Highlands, Southlake, and Fort Worth all hosting celebrations.
  • Lastly, the fifth annual Festicle, a celebration of bad ass beer, returns to BrainDead Brewing on Saturday, November 2nd! Show up to the lot next to BrainDead for music, bites, and really “interesting” brews. What does “interesting” mean? You could taste brews that are unreleased, funky, sour, unique, or simply, Dallas’ best!
