Check out the jazz scene at The Green Mill—a prohibition hotspot known for being frequented by notorious figures like Al Capone that’s still serving up cocktails today. Down the street is Aragon Ballroom, a nearly 100-year-old venue that regularly hosts major artists of all genres. If you’re into the performing arts, be sure to add catching a show at Riviera Theater to your Chicago bucket list.

This neighborhood’s lakefront includes Montrose Beach, one of the most popular public beaches in Chicago. There’s plenty to do here—enjoy the delicious concession stand food, kayak along the coast, or host a sand volleyball tourney. If your plus one is your furry friend, head over to the off-leash dog beach—in our experience, watching dogs get the zoomies in the sand is an easy way to spike your serotonin.
