Temps have dropped, the time has “fallen” back and any of us living in an apartment without a fireplace are queuing up the “Yule log fireplace” on Netflix – it must be fall in Texas! Since seasons are celebrated a little differently this year, there’s a chance we might not be breaking out the sweaters, scarves, knee-highs, and boots like we would in years prior. But, that doesn’t mean we can’t ring in the fall in a variety of other ways!

Here are 10 different ways your local Dallas experts (that’s us) suggest welcoming fall in The Metroplex:

Plan a Friendsgiving soiree

With fall looking a little different than it typically does, maybe it’s time to host your own intimate harvest-themed event for a safe and fun evening in! And we have everything you need to make it a hit. You’ll need grub and snacking is much more fun with a board from Fount Board & Table like their newly rolled out Harvest Board which packs in dreamy seasonal flavors. Then, grab some desserts from Emporium Pies or La Casita Bakeshop. Check out more desserts with our fall flavor guide!

Have a staycay in a cozy hotel

As one of our favorite spots in the city, this one is a no brainer! When it comes to hotels, the historic Adolphus Hotel takes the cake! It’s one of the original downtown Dallas buildings with stylish vintage decor sprinkled with modern touches perfect for every season, especially fall. The rooms are exceptionally comfy and spacious with sweeping downtown views and there are cozy spots to hole up in all around like Otto’s coffee and the many lounge spaces. Pro tip: They host half-priced wine bottle nights in the lobby Wednesday and Thursday evenings after 5 pm! Also, be sure to check out the “Happenings” mirror posted in the lobby of everything going on at the hotel!

Warm-up with a bowl of ramen

When the temperatures dip into soup weather, it’s time to start planning where to grab that perfect bowl of ramen and Uncommon Ramen at Uchiba has your back! Each month Uchiba will be creating ramen inspired by one of the chefs from past series that you can score every Monday night for $15 through March 2021 for dine-in AND takeout! They’re so delectable and delicious plus a great way to ward off the chilly fall days!

Sip a fall-themed cocktail

Whether you’re into hot drinks or cold in the fall season, sipping a seasonal cocktail sounds so fitting for this time of year. And some seasonal cocktails can be found at really fun places, too! Like a cozy wine bar with some spiked apple cider at Astoria Caffe in Addison. Another option is sampling all the fall drinks at Halcyon who has 12+ seasonal cocktails (and coffee drinks too)! There are so many more spots for fall cocktails that we had to create a round-up of them which you can find here!

Alternatively, try out a cidery like Bishop Cider Co. who has some pretty incredible seasonal ciders like Pecan Pie and Caramel Apple!

Load up on fall goodies

A glass of wine, candles, and charcuterie snacking boards are a perfect seasonal way to settle into autumn. And where you can find all these spectacular curated goods is none other than Foxtrot Market with two locations – one in Uptown and one in University Park! Find your next favorite bottle of vino with fall worthy red wines accompanied by themed candles like Toasted Pumpkin and other seasonal treats! Head to their website and enter your email

Master baked goods for holiday parties

With fall comes holiday parties, whether they be family or friends. Instead of picking up premade dishes from the grocery store for the annual potluck, volunteer to bring dessert because there are a few ways around Dallas to master the art of baked goods! For example, there’s a Pie Master Class at 3015 at Trinity Groves on November 21 where two chefs will teach a master class and help you make four harvest-themed pies! There’s also a Make & Take: Desserts class hosted by Central Market Cooking School Dallas (Lovers Lane) on multiple dates in November!

Have a boujee picnic

With the weather temps dropping to comfortable levels take your parties, date nights, and celebrations outside with a darling picnic via setups from The Styled Affair! They have packages to completely customize your experience and packages like the Movie Night Package that includes a projector, screen, decor, pillows, popcorn buckets, and more for the perfect movie night. Other options include picnic tables, comfy seating, and full settings to make a picture-worthy picnic in the fall air!

Check out a farmers market

Heading out on a crisp weekend morning to peruse local vendors for fresh ingredients while sipping a warm drink sounds very fall-esque so channel your inner New Englander! The open-air Dallas Farmers Market is the best place to grab goods for your next fall soup recipe you spotted on Pinterest. We love looking through different offerings like local honey, gourds, seasonal fall fruits, and more! Plus the main building’s eateries have some fantastic fall-themed foods!

Snuggle up at a drive-in

With a surge of drive-ins that took over during COVID summer, we’re reaping the rewards now that the weather is so enjoyable! There’s quite a few to choose from all over town like Movies in the Park at Griggs Park, Rooftop Cinema Club, and Klyde Warren Park’s Movies in the Park. So grab all the blankets you can find, order some takeout and snuggle up for a way more comfortable alternative to the summer drive-ins past!

Take a ghost tour of Dallas

The fall season can have a spooky factor to it which is prime time for ghost hunting! Keep your eyes peeled for some paranormal activity while learning about the haunted side of Dallas that very few talk about! For a 21+ version of ghost tours, try Nightly Spirits Dallas ghost tour pub crawl! You’ll explore haunted bars and haunted buildings while enjoying sips along the way.
