East Nashville is one of the city’s biggest neighborhoods with a laid back vibe and little somethin’ for everyone. One end is more residential/quiet, and the other comes with lots of foot traffic and the occasional rowdy sports fans coming from Nissan Stadium. Along the bend of Cumberland River, the southeast is just the Shelby Bottoms Park and Shelby Golf Course. Not only is East Nashville expansive in area size, but it also has numerous housing options, from multi-story townhomes to large apartment complexes.
The area is home to the Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Nature Park, an East Nashville institution covering 960 acres of mixed forests, fields, and walking or biking trails with river views. If you need to escape the outdoors, head to one of the biggest, busiest malls in Central Tennessee, Opry Mills, or visit Five Points Retail District, where you stroll along shady tree-lined streets and antique shops. Be sure to check out the array of ethnic restaurants East Nashville has to offer. Have your pick from authentic Mexican, Italian, Greek, Thai/Japanese fusion, BBQ, or Nashville’s own hot fried chicken.
