What Its Known For
Buchanan Arts District: known for murals, galleries, design shops, and great representation of North Nashville’s cultural past.
MetroCenter: Once just a floodplain, it’s now a huge office park housing the Titan’s practice fields, several state departments and Watkins College of Art and Design.
Pros
A limited selection of new mid-rise properties, but they do tend to be well priced
Abundant business development in the MetroCenter
Cons
Mostly private homes and older complexes, with limited multi-family properties
A car is required to complete most tasks around town
Home to the MetroCenter and only a few miles from Downtown, North Nashville is a neighborhood full of history, the hub of the city’s black community, and home to three historically black universities:
- Fisk University, think famed art galleries and Fisk Jubilee Singers
- Meharry Medical College, calling all doctors
- Tennessee State, you’re the only ten I see
Visitors can be found exploring the shops, bars and restaurants lining Buchanan Street. Plus music lovers should wander over to Jefferson Street which was once the epicenter of Nashville’s booming R&B/Jazz scene.
This area has seen a surge of development over recent years, with many of Nashville’s biggest employers beginning as start-ups at the MetroCenter. New mid rise apartment properties continue to pop up in the area, while maintaining more budget friendly rates than those closer to Downtown–We love to see it.
Don’t just take our word for it. See what our friends say!
