Dallas-Fort Worth has become one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the US. As it turns out, Dallas is super central and close to two big airports so it’s a great tourist destination. As locals, this can become a problem. We’ve already noticed a ton of people hanging out in downtown and it’s probably only the beginning! Here are our favorite alternative spots to hang out at so you can dodge the Dallas tourists!
SKYLINE VIEWS AT THE NYLO HOTEL
Instead of dropping a cool $200 for a single meal at Reunion Tower, head over to the Cedars and chill at the NYLO hotel. You won’t have to wait endlessly for a table or pay for the great view. Their rooftop bar gives you a FULL view of downtown, serves fairly priced drinks, and comes with an infinite pool for the heat and a fire pit for when it gets cold. When we say the view is amazing, it really is.
BRUNCH AT TEN BELLS TAVERN
In Dallas, it’s a right of passage to brunch on the weekend. But if you’re going to do brunch right, you’ll have to avoid the long waits and make sure the day drinks are cheap. Bishop Arts is a popular area to brunch but it can definitely get crowded! Instead of heading to Oddfellows, why not try Ten Bells Tavern? They have $3 Bloody Marys, screwdrivers, mimosas, and even $10 mimosa carafes from 11am until 3pm. The chicken and waffles are huge and beyond delicious. Plus, they have the most bomb mac and cheese if you have a killer hangover.
GET OUTDOORS AT WHITE ROCK LAKE
Alright, Klyde Warren Park is so packed on the weekends so when you’re trying to get outside, give White Rock Lake a try. If you’re needing a bit of nature with more privacy and some comforting shade, while avoiding downtown parking and the sound of a highway beneath your feet, then you have to go to White Rock Lake. When the weather is nice, you can rent kayaks and enjoy the lake or go for a run on their extensive trails!
