Whether you are a Dallas transplant or a long time lover of Dallas, sometimes it’s good to know which areas are changing and which ones are the best for you. Some people choose their apartment based on proximity to work or based on the properties walkability to hot spots. With so many options and boroughs in Dallas, it can be really hard to choose which spot is best for you! That’s where Smart City comes in and saves the day! (very similar to Batman) We’ve spent hours combing over the best properties in each neighborhood so by now, we are pretty much rocket scientists of apartment locating. We know it all. Here are our tips on which Dallas neighborhood you should live in!

IF YOU LOVE RUNNING TRAILS AND BEING OUTDOORS

Uptown

Uptown is going to be a great option for people who love to run outside or generally be in the great outdoors. There’s great food, shopping and easy access to the Katy Trail. Plus, we all know Katy Trail is basically a built in Tinder. Apartments in Uptown can be a little more expensive because it is such a trendy area but it is well worth it to walk to brunch or easily hop on 75 to commute to work!

Lakewood

If you’re looking for a quieter vibe, Lakewood might be your spot. You’ll have easy access to White Rock Lake so you can hop on a paddle board and work out on a Saturday or walk to Ginger Man for a quick beer after work. They have a more chill/friendly vibe in Lakewood and everyone seems to know one another. Lakewood is ideal if you work in East Dallas or want quick access to I-30.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE AUSTIN-ISH

West Dallas

West Dallas is so hot right now and it’s booming with new construction and new shopping! You’ll be able to walk to a TON of Austin transplanted shops like Houndstooth, Juiceland and Taco Deli. There is literally nothing like walking downstairs to breakfast tacos and fresh juice. West Dallas is a skip and a jump to I-30 and only minutes from downtown if you work in the area.

IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING WITH MORE CHARACTER

Deep Ellum

Deep Ellum is a great area to look for something with more character because the area has lofts! Lofts are completely open spaced apartments that usually feature exposed brick, duct work and interesting windows. There are only so many in the area because Dallas was an industrial city near downtown and many of the buildings were converted into lofts. Deep Ellum is also a great spot because it’s downtown and near so many great bars and restaurants.

IF YOU’RE WANTING TO BE IN THE MIX BUT NOT IN UPTOWN

Oak Lawn

Oak lawn is a great option if you’re looking to be in the nightlife but not BE in the nightlife. Get it? Plus, Uptown can get really expensive so why not drive one more mile and save a buck? You’ll be close to all the bars on Cedar Springs and within walking distance to Eatzi’s. That’s basically our life long dream.
