Oak Lawn is one of our favorite areas of Dallas! Smart City staffers have been known to dub themselves connoisseurs of Oaklawn. Why? Simple: it’s an area where a lot is happening in the heart of everything. There are tons of brand new Oak Lawn apartments, so you can enjoy all the perks of Uptown without the hefty price tag – which can definitely come in handy these days!
For those of you who have a fur baby (like most of us at Smart City), Katy Trail is SO CLOSE to Oaklawn. It’s less than a mile away, so super simple to hop on and take a walk. Stop at Katy Trail Ice House for a beer and head home. Boom, both owner and pup are happy. Robert E Lee Park is also in this area and has a walking loop for days when you don’t have a ton of time, but still want to feel like you’ve participated in nature for the day.
The Oak Lawn community is known for its diverse nightlife. From your Oak Lawn apartment you can walk to retail stores, clubs, bars and restaurants, or even bike around! Our favorite staple is Scardello’s. It’s the best cheese shop in Dallas. Head here for when you need to show up to a party to impress… or for when you’d like to Netflix on the couch with a cheese plate and a glass (or bottle) of wine. You’re allowed. If you’re vegetarian, Cosmic Cafe is a great option. Or if you’re looking for something upscale, head to Nick & Sam’s.
Oak Lawn is home to Dallas Pride every September. There’s a festival as well as a parade (with pretty freaking sweet floats), and it’s a must see for any Dallasite. Plus, if you lived in an apartment in Oak Lawn you could walk to all the festivities! Smart City can help you find the best apartments in Oak Lawn, hands down.
