Large number of apartment buildings

Mostly older, garden style apartment properties
Nightlife and entertainment options are scarce

While the Woodlawn Medical Center may not be as “hip” as other parts of San Antonio (and definitely has an earlier bedtime), it is bursting with rental properties. This means that Medical Center Apartments are some of the most affordable in San Antonio. Plus, with plenty of job opportunities and proximity to various college campuses, you’ll enjoy shorter, easier commutes between class, work, and home.

Probably one of the most desirable spots to live in Med Center is near Woodlawn Lake Park, where residents of Woodlawn Apartments enjoy a daily breath of fresh air and natural beauty. If you can’t get a spot there, though, there are plenty of other great Medical Center Apartments you’ll want to settle into.

Medical Center & Woodlawn Neighborhood Overview

The Medical Center neighborhood is anchored by the South Texas Medical Center that comprises 75 different facilities and is responsible for the second-largest number of jobs in the city. With its growing culinary scene, some hidden entertainment gems, access to daily amenities, and parks galore, Med Center offers something for everyone.

Things to Do Around the Medical Center & Woodlawn

Living in Med Center and Woodland Apartments puts you within an easy commute to a variety of activities. Enjoy an upscale movie night with food and cocktails at Santikos Entertainment Northwest or catch a more interactive show at the volunteer-ran Roxie Theatre Company. In addition, The Rim shopping center sits close to the Med Center boundaries, and H-E-B grocery stores make food shopping a breeze.

Outdoor lover? Take your pick. With a focus on health, there are plenty of places around to keep you outdoors and active. Some nearby parks include Denman Estate Park, Medical Center Running Trail, Orsinger County Park, Raymond Rimkus Park, Jim Reed Walking, and Jogging Trail. Of course, you also have Woodlawn Lake Park, where you can do everything from fishing and nature walks to swimming in the pool or taking up a new fitness class.

The best way to balance all of that activity, though, is with food– which is great because there are plenty of dining experiences to be had in the Med Center. And the list of must-eat restaurants continues to grow almost daily. One of our fav spots, Sangria On the Burg, is famous for tacos and BBQ, but prepared for a wait– their sangria recipe isn’t quite a secret around town. You’ll also want to try the ramen and bubble tea from Suck It The Restaurant and Falafel from Beirut or Jerusalem Grill.
