The Rice Village / West University (a.k.a West U) neighborhood encompasses the area just inside the 610 Loop and South of 59 until you reach Braeswood and the Med Center. To paint a picture — think gorgeous, mature trees lining the streets of homes you can’t help but daydream about. As one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Houston with easy access to Rice Unversity and Medical Center, this area is one of the most sought-after places to live.
Rice Village’s walkable shopping center is home to brand names, boutiques, and tons of eats to choose from — Local Foods, Hungry’s, and Coppa Osteria are some tried-and-true favorites. And for dessert, it would be outright distasteful to mention the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at Tinys No. 5.
Even if you aren’t a student at the prestigious Rice University, checking out the campus is a must. We recommend spending a sunset at James Turrel’s Twilight Epiphany art installation or simply walking around to take in the gorgeous architecture.
