Rice Village / West University
What Its Known For
It would be outright distasteful to not lead with the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at Tinys No. 5 in Rice Village! This restaurant is the cute little cousin of the River Oaks classic, Tiny Boxwoods, but with it’s own feel and menu to match how adorable Rice Village is! With huge windows everyone can peer in as they walk around, this restaurant is a perfect representation of this charming, walkable neighborhood! They even have a Farmers Market! Does it get more picturesque than that?? Rice Village offers a variety of big names you already know like Urban Outfitters and Gap as well as a few Houston favorites like Black Walnut Cafe and benjy’s! Honorable mention, Sweet Paris for when you are feel extra fancy and want to casually slip into conversation the crépes you had IN ACTUAL PARIS THANK YOU SO MUCH. We can’t forget Rice Village’s new kids to the block Hopdoddy, everyone’s favorite Austin transplant!
Speaking of things you recognize from other cities, you’ll also see Torchy’s Tacos, Ginger Man, and Little Woodrows (if you haven’t caught on yet, there’s one of these every like 8 blocks here)! There’s even more things to do and places to eat along Morningside Drive! Then when you’re feeling nature-y, skip yourself on over to Rice University! We dare you to go on a nice afternoon walk around campus and pretend you don’t feel completely rejuvenated. Such a beautiful campus with gorgeous homes lining the sides, how could you not? Rice Village/West University feels like a warm hug all around. Perfect for an afternoon dilly dallying around shopping, tasting, unwinding, and a tranquil place to call home! The apartments in this area have private movie theaters, resort-level relaxation pools with cabanas and the whole nine yards, as well as walkability that is hard to beat in Houston!
