Only 10 minutes from Downtown, nestled between Montrose and Galleria/Uptown, the Upper Kirby/Greenway is a perfect home base for all types of commutes in the Houston area. Right above Hwy 59, the Greenway Plaza area is a mixed-use development with a movie theater, tons of different restaurants to choose from, coffee shops, and they even have a Costco for those days when you say you know what? I really love this protein bar I’m going to go buy 200 of them! Or if you just want the best hot dog of your life at the cafe at the end (pro tip). The Upper Kirby/Greenway are boasts a popular spot brought to you by the people behind Little Woodrow’s, Kirby Ice House. Those 3 magical words that could make any Houstonian smile from ear to ear. With tons of seating in their enormous outdoor beer garden and room for plenty of food trucks, this has become an absolute MUST on the happy hour list of places to hit. The fact that they’re dog friendly put them even higher on our list of favorites!
Other go-to’s of ours in the neighborhood include Oporto, a Mediterranean restaurants with small plates and a wine list that’s so long it could be mistaken for a Cheesecake Factory menu. When you’re in the mood for a fancier dinner with white tablecloths, Tony’s is a pillar of Greenway Plaza and has a great tasting menu! The apartments in this neighborhood put you within walking distance of Houston favorites like BB’s Cafe! Oh, and did we mention that this neighborhood has a cute Farmer’s Market too? Being able to walk from your apartment to a place where you can buy locally sourced food is a total dreamboat situation in our book!
