Living in The Woodlands

If you’ve ever thought about exchanging the concrete jungle for nature trails, lakeside hangs, live music, and sophisticated living, The Woodlands may be the spot for you.

You can’t talk about The Woodlands without talking about — you guessed it — the woods. One of the most notable aspects of the cozy, master-planned community is the densely wooded areas that give it a totally unique feel from the rest of the city. When combined with Lake Woodlands, the Waterway, and George Mitchell Nature Preserve, it’s clear to see that enjoying some of Texas’ best urban outdoor living (summer heat included) is a way of life here. To dive right in, check out the great eats and bars in Waterway Square, rent a kayak and hit the water at Riva Row Boat House, make your way through over 160 miles of hike and bike trails, or catch a summer concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.

But what of the Great Indoors? Retail is a safe bet here. Southern Living calls The Woodlands “One of America’s Best Shopping Destinations”, probably due to the eleven million square feet of shopping in the area. Check out Market Street, The Woodlands Mall, or any of the countless local boutiques to see it for yourself. Once you’re done shopping til’ you drop, stop by the Game Preserve arcade — a day pass gets you unlimited access to over six thousand square feet of classic games and machines that will take you way back!

For our foodies out there, the Woodlands knows no shortage of options from classic favs to new hotspots. In the Market Street shopping center, Sweet Paris serves up signature crêpes while Popbar offers totally unique popsicles. Or check out unique eats like Fielding’s Wood Grill, Chick’n’Cone in Waterway Square, or The Brooklyn Cafe.

Finding an Apartment in The Woodlands

With countless major employers and its location a way up I-45, renters may find it less suitable for commuting to Houston and more of a perfect place to enjoy a more suburban lifestyle. The area has tons of new construction and many updated units for prices generally higher than you would find in similar areas like Katy, but generally lower than you would find inside the loop.
